In connection with the incident reported earlier this week where a
15-year old overdosed on alcohol in Scott Hall. Officers charged one
female student with providing liquor to a minor and contributing to the
delinquency of a minor. A second female student was charged with
contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The 15-year old victim was
treated and released from Harris Regional Hospital and his case was
referred to Juvenile Court authorities where he will be charged with
underage possession of alcohol.
Officers responded to assist Jackson County deputies at a fight at the Pi
Kappa Phi house where members of that fraternity and the Pi Kappa
Alpha fraternity had been fighting. One student was injured when struck
in the face with a bottle. He was treated and released from Harris
Hospital. Officers arrested another male student who had stolen a set of
car keys from a police vehicle while the officer was addressing the fight.
Officers responded to a fire alarm at Albright at 6:30 p. m. caused by hair
spray sprayed into a detector.
A student reported that a cd case containing approximately 48 cd's was
stolen from her vehicle which was parked behind Scott between 4/14
and 4/16. Thieves unzipped the canvas top on the 4 X 4 to gain entry.
A student reported that a tire on his car was punctured while the car
was parked in the Walker A lot between 4/14 and 4/15.
Officers monitored a group of students protesting a University action at
2:00 p. m on the UC lawn and at the Administration Building. No problems
were reported. A report will follow on Monday.
Officers cited a male student for operating an overcrowded vehicle at
2:09 a. m.
Officers responded to a fire alarm at Reid Gym at 9:14 a. m. The cause
is unknown.
A tornado warning was announced for Jackson County after a tornado
was cited in Cherokee and reported to be moving east around 7:00 p. m.
Officers assisted in briefing residence hall staff, library and University
Center staff, and the campus radio station on proper actions to take
during a tornado warning.
