A male non-student who was arrested by WCU officers pled guilty to
DWI in District Court. The defendant was fined $100 and court costs,
received a 60 day suspended sentence, one year probation, and 24
hours of community service work.
A male student pled guilty to DWI and failing to stop for blue light and
siren. He was fined $150, court costs, received a 60 day suspended
sentence, one year probation, and 24 hours of community service work.
A female student pled guilty to DWI. She was fined $100 and costs of
court, and received a 60 day suspended sentence, 24 hours of
community service work, and one year probation.
Charges of DWI and fictitious license were dismissed against a male
WCU student. He was found guilty of a provisional licensee violation and
received a 60 day suspended sentence, cost of court, and a fine of
$100 and court costs.
A male student was found not guilty of DWI, but guilty of a provisional
licensee violation. He was sentenced to 60 days in jail, suspended on
payment of a $100 fine and court costs.
A female student pled guilty to DWI and a charge of reckless driving was
dismissed. The defendant's violation was judged to have several
aggravating factors and the judge ordered the defendant to spend 7
days in jail. A one year jail sentence was suspended on payment of
$500 fine, costs, and probation for 3 years.
Officers investigated a traffic accident on Forest Hills Road at 2:20 p. m.
Officers investigated the theft of a cake from the Food Court at the
University Center at 9:15 p. m. Officers discovered that the incident was
a prank and the cake was returned to the victims.
Officers assisted WCU EMS with a student in Leatherwood who was
suffering chest pains at 12:08 a. m. The female student was transported
to Harris Regional Hospital for treatment.
A student in Scott reported that she was receiving harassing phone calls
at 2:21 a. m.
