University Police Reports: April 12, 1999

INCIDENTS

On 4/11 at 2:20 a. m., officers arrested a male non-student for DWI and
reckless driving. The suspect had an 18-month old child in the car and
was also charged with misdemeanor child abuse. On April 12, additional
charges were filed for Habitual Impaired Driving and driving while license
revoked. Court date is May 17.

An employee at the Bookstore reported the theft of a software package
valued at $120 which occurred between March 23 and April 8. The
investigation is continuing.

Officers transported a dog to the animal shelter after the owner failed to
come and pick it up as they stated they would do when called at 11:30
a.m.

Officers served an order for arrest on a male student for failing to
appear in court on charges of failing to return rental property at 11:54
a. m.

A student reported that the roof of her vehicle was damaged by a falling
tree limb while the car was parked near Hunter Library at 2:30 p. m.

A student reported that her transferable parking permit was stolen from
her vehicle while it was parked in the Brown staff lot between 10:30
a. m. on 4/8 and 11:00 a. m. on 4/9.

A student in Walker reported that someone had accessed his computer
without authorization and damaged some of his files at 11:30 p. m.

SECURITY VIOLATIONS

Dodson: Stairwell door at Cyber Cafe and Door #14 ajar at 0151.
Stadium: SW gate open at 0134.
Door #5 ajar at 0117.
Belk: Door #4 ajar at 0117.
