University Police Reports: September 22, 1999

INCIDENTS

On 9-20, a male subject charged with DWI failed to
appear in District Court and an order for arrest was issued.

On 9-20, a male subject charged with underage possession
of alcohol plead guilty and was ordered to pay the court
cost. Other charges were dismissed.

On 9-20, a male student charged with DWLR and reckless
driving plead guilty. He was given 45 days suspended for a
year, $200 fine and court costs, and ordered not to
operate a motor vehicle in NC until licensed.

At 0747, officers responded to a report of a loud noise in
the Leatherwood/Helder area but did not find the source.
A truck was making a delivery at Dodson and may have
been the source.

At 0918, officers responded to a fire alarm in the Natural
Science Bldg. A laboratory experiment was being
conducted which put off a lot of smoke.

At 1005, officers investigated a traffic accident at the
intersection of Catamount Rd. and Forest Hills Rd. There
were no injuries.

At 1100, officers received a complaint from a female
student that she was having difficulty breaking up with her
boyfriend.

At 1720, officers responded to a fire alarm at the Alumni
House. The furnace was putting off smoke and activated
the smoke alarms.

At 1807, officers responded to Harrill Parking lot in
response to requests from a group of students concerned
about a dog which had been hit by a car. The dog was a
black dachshund. The dog died. A shovel was found for
some of the students who took the dog to a location off
campus and buried it.

At 1813, officers responded to Harrill where the right
elevator was stuck on the 5th floor. Subjects had already
removed themselves from the elevator and the power was
turned off to the elevator until it could be repaired.

At 2032, officers responded to Harrill in reference to the
other elevator malfunctioning. Three students were helped
to exit the elevator and power was turned of the elevator.

At 2235, officers cited a male student for a stop sign
violation and transporting an open container of liquor.

At 0109, officers investigated a report of sewer odor on
the second floor of the UC but were unable to locate the
source. The physical plant was contacted.
