On 9/20, a male student pled arrested on 8/27 for DWI pled guilty in
District Court. He was fined $100 and ordered to perform 24 hours of
community service work and placed on probation for 1 year.
On 9/20, a male student arrested on 1/6/99 for DWI was found guilty,
fined $125 and costs. He was ordered to perform 24 hours of community
service work and placed on probation for one year.
On 9/24, a faculty member reported that he had lost a green back pack in
the area of Killian, Coulter, or the Bookstore.
At 10:30 a. m. on 9/24, officers assisted WCU EMS on the 2nd floor of
Stillwell where a student had passed out. He was transported to Student
Health for treatment.
Officers provided traffic control and police patrol for Mountain Heritage
Day including the concert by Doc Watson at the Ramsey Center on Friday
night and Saturday. No crimes were reported in connection with the
events, but several visitors suffered bee stings on the field and one
female visitor fell and apparently suffered a broken leg on University Way
adjacent to the field. One ambulance call was also dispatched for a male
student who found a black widow spider on his leg but was not bitten.
At 3:25 a. m. on 9/25, officers responded to a fire alarm in Benton caused
by an activated pull station.
At 9:50 p m. on 9/25, a male student reported that he was receiving
harassing e-mail messages from off campus.
At 1:10 a. m. on 9/26, officers arrested a male student for being drunk
and disruptive and for resisting arrest on Centennial Drive.
At 2:45 a. m. on 9/26, the Cullowhee Fire Department was paged to
Leatherwood for a vehicle fire. Officers responded and found no fire in
the area and advised the fire department which was en route.
At 3:24 p. m. on 9/26, a staff member from NCCAT reported suspicious
activity on the Frady property adjacent to NCCAT.
At 6:43 p. m. on 9/26, officers investigated a traffic accident on
Centennial Drive.
At 8:25 p. m. on 9/26, officers checked a report of the odor of marijuana
on the 9th floor of Walker. One article of paraphernalia was found. No
charges filed at this time.
At 10:15 p. m. on 9/26, a student reported that her car was struck by a hit
& run driver probably near Buchanan between 9/24 and 9/26.
At 4:40 a. m. on 9/27, Housing staff reported that a fire detector head had
been removed on the 3rd floor west wing of Leatherwood. Officers
reinstalled the head and it worked properly.
