University Police Reports: October 29-31, 1999

INCIDENTS

At 10:00 a. m. on 10/28, officers investigated a hit & run accident at
Moore Hall.

Officers provided traffic control and security for the Homecoming parade
in Sylva, Spirit night including bonfire and fireworks, the football game
and tailgating events, the Stompfest and the party afterwards with no
serious incidents.

At 8:00 a. m. on 10/29, officers investigated a hit & run accident in the
Belk "C" lot. A suspect was identified and the investigation is continuing.

At 9:45 a. m. on 10/29, officers investigated a traffic accident

At 11:00 a. m. on 10/29, officers investigated a traffic accident between
a car and a bicycle at the intersection of Centennial Drive and Forest Hills
Road. No serious injury resulted.

At 12:20 p. m. on 10/29, officers investigated a hit & run accident at
Madison.

At 4:00 p. m. on 10/29, a student reported that someone had scratched
obscenities into the finish of her car while it was parked in the Field
House lot between 10/24 and 10/29.

At 1:45 p. m. on 10/29, officers investigated a traffic accident in front of
Bob's Mini-Mart.

At 4:41 p. m. on 10/29, a student reported that his Cat Card had been
missing for several days and approximately $250 worth of meal points
had been withdrawn without his permission.

At 5:30 p. m. on 10/29, officers assisted parents and two students who
were having a roommate conflict in Harrill Hall.

At 8:21 p. m., 8:47 p. m. and 11:31 p. m. on 10/29, officers responded to
a fire alarm at Scott caused by a faulty detector head.

At 12:35 a. m. on 10/30, officers found an intoxicated student passed out
in the lobby of Harrill Hall and WCU EMS transported him to Harris Regional
Hospital for treatment.

At 2:27 a. m. on 10/30, officers arrested a male non-student for DWI after
stopping his vehicle for speeding. Intoxilyzer results were .13%.

At 2:58 a. m. on 10/30, officers responded to Benton Hall where someone
had broken a fire extinguisher glass and discharged the extinguisher in
the 3rd floor hallway.

At 4:05 a. m. on 10/30, officers assisted the Jackson County Sheriff's
Department with an arrest near Speedwell Acres where one suspect
had run into the woods. Neither suspect was believed to be students.

At 1:40 p. m. on 10/30, a student reported that someone had stolen
several items of clothing from his room in Benton while the door was
unlocked.

At 2:56 p. m. on 10/30, officers responded to a fire alarm in Leatherwood
caused when someone broke two pull stations.

At 4:20 p. m. on 10/30, a student from Albright reported that someone had
entered his unlocked room and stolen several items of clothing and four
Nintendo games.

At 6:36 p. m on 10/30, a student in Benton reported that his bicycle had
been stolen from the back of Benton.

At 6:50 p. m on 10/30, a local resident reported a missing dog: a small
brown and white beagle/lab mix.

At 8:00 p. m. on 10/30, officers assisted students with a stuck elevator at
Harrill Hall.

At 10:46 p. m. on 10/30, officers found a female student working in a
classroom in Belk and asked her to leave.

At 1:00 a. m. on 10/31, officers responded to a report of smoke coming
from a room on the 2nd floor of Benton. They found an unoccupied room
with a window fan running pulling the odor of smoke from a near by
bonfire into the building.

At 7:22 a. m. on 10/31, a student complained about loud noise coming
from a room near his on the first floor of Benton. Housing staff entering
the unoccupied room and turned off the alarm clock and stereo.

At 5:13 p. m. on 10/31, officers cited a male student for failing to stop at a
stop sign.

At 5:13 p. m. on 10/31, officers discovered a chair stolen from a from a
picnic table adjacent to the UC outside the north door of Albright. The
chair was returned to the UC and the investigation is continuing.

At 7:20 p. m. on 10/31, a student reported that his suitcase was lost or
stolen after he left it sitting outside Leatherwood Hall between 3:30 p. m.
and 6:00 p. m.

Niggli: Door #4 unlocked at 2334 on 10/30.
Belk: Door #1c unlocked at 2246 on 10/30.
Nat Science: Door #2 ajar at 2315 on 10/30.
Coulter: Door #7b unlocked and 4b ajar at 2323 on 10/30.
McKee: Door #7a unlocked at 2329 on 10/30.
Stillwell: Door #1b and 5 unlocked at 2330 on 10/30.
Killian Anx: Door #5b unlocked at 2340 on 10/30.
Stillwell: Greenhouse door ajar at 2344 on 10/30.
Killian: Window in room #127 open and Door #7ab ajar at 2345 on 10/30.
Brown: Loading dock door unlocked at 2353 on 10/30.
OSU: Door #2 unlocked at 11:40 p. m. on 10/30.
McKee: Door #1e ajar at 2145 on 10/31.
Stillwell: Door #1ab ajar and 2b propped at 2205 on 10/31.
Niggli: Door #1b unlocked at 2216 on 10/31.
Nat Science: Door #2 unlocked at 2220 on 10/31.
Stillwell: Door #13 unlocked at 2226 on 10/31.
Moore: Door #3 unlocked at 2245 on 10/31.
Belk: Door #13 unlocked at 2345 on 10/31.
Killian Anx: Three windows open on ground level at 0050 on 11/1.
