Is professional development for faculty doing research and writing in one's discipline? Is professional development the act of teaching and reflecting upon that teaching in some way? Is research and writing about teaching in general or about teaching one's discipline a part of professional development?
Here is a brief email exchange on the issue: http://listserv.nd.edu/cgi-bin/wa?A2=ind0301 <http://listserv.nd.edu/cgi-bin/wa?A2=ind0301&L=pod&F=&S=&P=2538> &L=pod&F=&S=&P=2538
For you as a faculty member in the professional of college teaching, what does "professional development" mean for you? It would be great to hear at least a brief response from everyone and see if a professional development mosaic develops.
Thank you.
Alan
