    Hello:

We are working on planning for the 2nd annual Summer Institute for
Teaching & Learning to be held on campus June 15 - 17, 2004. Those of
us involved in the planning do not want to simply pick topics for the
Focus Teams that will work together at the Institute, but would much
rather have a lot of input from faculty themselves. Thus, I am asking
if you would take just a few minutes and help us.

Attached is a list of possible topics that have been suggested so far
for next June. We will probably again have 5 - 6 Focus Teams, with each
team working on a particular topic of interest to its members.

I would appreciate it if you would look at the list of topics and return
to me a list of your top 6 topic choices (whether you plan to attend the
Institute or not), topics that you think are particularly compelling for
you, and/or for faculty in general at this time. If you could do this
before Dec. 17th, that would be helpful.

Finally, the pre-registration list of faculty wanting to attend the 2004
SITL is growing and space may become limited. So if you want to attend,
but have not yet contacted me about that intention, please do and I can
reserve a place for you prior to official registration in January.

    Thanks.

    Alan
